Men’s Soccer Continues Homestand Against Northern Michigan; Lindenwood

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's men's soccer continues its five-game homestand this Thursday hosting Northern Michigan at 2:30 p.m. at Lewis Stadium. The Flyer welcome Lindenwood on Sunday for the GLVC opener for both schools with kick-off set for 2:30 p.m.

Last Time Out – Lewis opened its Fall 2021 season going 1-0-1 over the past weekend. The Flyers opened the season with a 3-2 win at Purdue Northwest last Thursday and then rallied from a two-goal deficit scoring twice in the final four minutes to earn a draw with Parkside on Sunday afternoon.

League Leaders – Lewis leads the GLVC in goals (6), goals per game (3.0), points (19), assists (7) and assists per game with 3.50. Domenic Baumann (Bergheim, Germany/Brauweiler) is tied for second in the league with four points tallying two goals while Seth Dilworth (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West), Jimmy Mwanga (Dublin, Ireland/CBS Lucan) and Nathaniel Campbell (Palm Bay, Fla./Heritage) are tied for fifth in the conference with three appoints apiece.

About Northern Michigan – The Wildcats enter Thursday's contest in search of their first win of the season. They opened season with a draw against Judson (Ill.) and then lost to Quincy 1-0 this past Sunday at home. Martin Wainstein has scored the team's lone goal on the season.

About Lindenwood – The Lions enter Sunday's conference opener with a mark of 0-1 after dropping its season opener to Rogers State 1-0 this past Sunday. Zachary Martin stopped three of the four shots he faced in goal for Lindenwood.

Series Stuff – Thursday's contest marks the second meeting all-time between Lewis and Northern Michigan with the Flyers winning the first contest 2-1 in double overtime back in 2019. Sunday's matchup marks the third meeting all-time between Lewis and Lindenwood with the Flyers holding a 1-0-1 advantage in the series. The two sides played to a scoreless draw in the first meeting back in 2019 and last season the Flyers picked up a 4-2 win at Lindenwood to secure a top four spot in the GLVC Tournament.
