Nolan Dalep (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada/Claremont Secondary School) and junior face-off specialist
Peter Carlson (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South) have been selected as the GLVC Men's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for the week ending February 13. It's the second time in program history that the Flyers have swept the weekly award.
Dalep recorded career-highs in goals with six and points (8) in No. 17 Lewis' 18-6 home opening win over Wheeling on Saturday at Lewis Stadium. He scored the go-ahead goal with 11:11 left in the second quarter to put the Flyers in front 4-3 and then added two goals later in the quarter with one coming on the man advantage. Dalep added two assists in the frame as well. His first assist came on
Baden Boyenko's (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada/St. Joseph) goal at the 10:40 mark and on
Drew Kask's (Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada/Dr. Charles Best Secondary School) goal with 8:22 to play before halftime. He added three more goals in the third quarter. This is his first career GLVC Offensive Player of the Week award.
Carlson picks up his second career Defensive Player of the Week award after going 19-for-21 at the face-off dot while scooping up 11 ground balls. He was 16-for-16 at the dot in the first half and keyed Lewis' 9-0 second quarter as he won all 10 of his face-offs. Carlson has won 54 percent of his face-offs in the first two games and has scooped up 19 ground balls on the season. He also won the award on Februrary 22, 2021.
The Flyers are back in action this Saturday as they travel to Erie, Pa., to take on sixth ranked Mercyhurst at 11 a.m. (CST).
