ADDISON, Ill. - Lewis University women's bowler
Erica Lohr (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) became the first bowler in program history to advance to nationals after a sixth-place finish at the Intercollegiate Singles Championships Sectionals competition Friday (March 8) at Stardust Bowl. Lohr shot a 1,306 over six games.
The top eight finishers out of the 219 bowlers advanced to the ISC Nationals, which will take place April 16-20 at Kingpin Lanes in Jeffersontown, Kentucky, where the top 24 bowlers across four sectionals will compete for the National Championship. Lohr had games of 206, 274, 224, 202, 204 and 196 to average a 217 for the tournament.
Alyson Young (Romeoville, Ill./Romeoville) added a 19th place finish with games of 209, 212, 234, 167, 214, 201 for a 1,237 total.
DeAlani Fishbeck (Lawton, Okla./Lawton) added a 1,048.
In the team competition March 9-10, the Flyers finished in 12th place out of 23 teams with an 11,634 total over 64 baker games. The top four teams advanced to nationals. Lewis was in eighth place after the first session Saturday with a 2,951 total. After Saturday the Flyers were in ninth place with a 5,990 total, 105 pins away from fourth. However, the Flyers came out Sunday with their lowest of the four sets Sunday morning to fall into 10th place.
Lewis travels to Smyrna, Tennessee for the Music City Classic Friday (March 15) at Smyrna Bowl.
