Mikey Kocen Named to ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings Sporting Goods have announced the 2024 ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams in all eight divisions of collegiate baseball and high school as Lewis junior Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill.) was named to the NCAA Division II Gold Glove Team after posting a .987 fielding percentage this season. Kocen becomes Lewis' third winner and the first third baseman to earn the honor in program history.

"National gold glove to cap off as impressive of an offseason as you can possibly have," head coach Mike Vucsko said. "Mikey had a tremendous season, we are really happy for him and all his success. He has put together one of the best individual seasons you can have and I'm excited to see what he does next year."

The ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove winners have been selected since 2007 in the collegiate and high school ranks and have featured many future Major League Baseball players.

Kocen played in 52 games and started in 51 of them while manning the hot corner for the Flyers and posting a .987 fielding percentage. The junior had 153 total chances with 45 putouts and 106 assists with only two errors all season at third base.

Kocen is the lone Great Lakes Valley Conference recipient on the list and is the first Lewis winner since Mike Barajas in 2014.
