ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- Lewis baseball junior Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill.) has earned first team All-American honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings, the D2CCA and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association. This is the Flyers' second straight year with a unanimous All-American with Jake Karaba (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) being honored by all three associations in 2023.

"Mikey was as deserving as it gets to be selected All-American," head coach Mike Vucsko said. "I'm really happy for him and the success he has earned. He is one of the hardest working guys we have and I'm excited to see what he does as an encore."

Kocen earned the third base spot on the top team in the nation, finishing the season with a .399 batting average that ranked fourth in the GLVC and tied for No. 55 in NCAA II. His 1.260 on-base plus slugging was third in the conference, earned by hitting 16 home runs (T-No. 7 GLVC, T-No. 39 NCAA II), 19 doubles (No. 5 GLVC, T-No. 47 NCAA II) and drawing 34 walks in addition to his 75 hits (T-No. 8 GLVC).

The Beach Park, Ill. native scored 63 runs (T-No. 6 GLVC, T-No. 54 NCAA II) and drove in 61 (T-No. 7 GLVC, T-No. 67 NCAA II) in 52 games while making 51 starts. Defensively, Kocen had 106 assists, 45 putouts and a .987 fielding percentage and he earned first team All-GLVC, NCBWA, D2CCA and ABCA/Rawlings first team All-Midwest Region honors as well.

Lewis last achieved All-American honors in consecutive seasons in 1995-96, when Brian Gibbons earned back-to-back All-American awards from ABCA, along with Rick Moss and Mike Morici in '96.
