ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis Assistant Vice President for Athletics John Ashaolu announced that Tim O'Neill has been named the interim Lewis swimming and diving coach for this season.
"I am very excited to have Tim as our interim head swimming coach," Ashaolu said. "Having served as an assistant coach the past year, he is familiar with our student-athletes and he is excited to build on the trajectory of our swim program that concluded last season with its highest finish in program history. As a former Division I swimmer at University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass), he truly understands the importance of meshing academics with championship level swimming."
O'Neill rejoins Lewis after serving as the program's assistant coach during the 2023-24 season where he helped lead the teams to their best finishes in program history. Prior to Lewis, O'Neill spent nearly a decade in finance and always kept swimming around him, holding several roles in the community teaching swim lessons and directing aquatics.
"I am thrilled to be a larger part of Lewis and continue the success of the program," O'Neill said.
O'Neill swam at UMass from 2009-2013. Prior to collegiate competition, O'Neill was apart of the Bluefish Swim Club, Magnus Aquatic Group and Bay & Ocean State Squids.
O'Neill was top-10 All-Time at UMass in the 100 fly and part of three Atlantic 10 team conference championships. Tim also swam for Bluefish Swim Club under coach Chuck Batchelor, breaking multiple LSC records.
The North Easton, Mass. native had his prep career at Oliver Ames High School. O'Neill holds a bachelor's degree in economics from UMass in 2015 and a Masters of Business Administration from Bryant University in 2021.
There will be a national search for the next head coach conducted following the completion of the season.
