Indianapolis, Ind. -- The Lewis University men's swimming team begun day one of the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships with a 15th place finish in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 6:35.37.
The Flyers relay was led by junior
Matt Howard (Tamarin, Mauritius/Westcoast International) splitting 1:40.55, followed up by freshman
Tom Thalau (Stuttgart, Germany/Wirtemberg-Gymnasium) with a 1:36.19 split. Sophomore
Juan Jose Castro (Cali, Colombia/Corporacion Cultural Colegio Aleman) had a split of 1:38.21 and sophomore
Valentin De Frutos (Santafe, Argentina/Colegio de Traductores de la Provincia de Santa Fe) closed out the relay with a time of 1:40.42. The Flyers finished 15th in the nation with a time of 6:35.27.

The Flyers are back in action for day two of the NCAA DII Swimming Championships Wednesday, March 12th starting at 9:00 a.m. CT for the 200 Yard IM, 50 Yard Freestyle and the 1000 Yard Freestyle.
