INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Lewis University women's bowling team opened up its season over the weekend at the Western Shootout at Royal Pin Western Bowl. The Flyers took 14th overall with a two-day total of 8,039 pins. Lindenwood won the tournament with an 8,764 total, while Rochester was second with 8,763 and Tennessee Wesleyan was third with 8,715.

The Flyers shot a 5,076 for six traditional games and 2,963 (9th best) for 16 baker games Sunday. Bricey Caudill of Tennessee Wesleyan won the individual title with a 1,331 over six games.

Lewis' Junior Varsity team placed fourth with a 7,514 total, shooting a 2,571 in baker and 4,943 in traditional. Marian won with a 7,763 total.

The Flyers travel to Struthers, Ohio for the Penguin Classic, hosted by the defending National Champions, Youngstown State, beginning Friday. Lewis is scheduled to face the defending champs as well as preseason No. 1 Jacksonville State.
