Romeoville, Ill. – Friday evening at the Lewis Stadium, the Lewis Flyers played Rockhurst to a 1-1 draw in GLVC action.
With the result, Lewis moved to 3-1-4 (2-1-2 GLVC) while Rockhurst shifted to 3-3-3 (2-2-2 GLVC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Flyers opened the scoring early as Anna Dazey (Corvallis, Ore./Linfield) found the back of the net in the 10th minute, finishing off a feed from Cosa Bella Milazzo (Orland Park, Ill./Victor J. Andrew) to give Lewis a 1-0 advantage. The Flyers controlled much of the first half, holding a 10-5 edge in shots before the break, but Rockhurst's defense tightended and did not allow another Lewis goal before the break.
Rockhurst answered early in the second half when Caitlyn Smith converted in the 50th minute to tie the match at 1-1. Both sides created chances down the stretch, but neither could find a game-winner.
Lewis outshot Rockhurst 14-11 overall and 6-5 in shots on goal. Corner kicks favored Rockhurst 6-3, while Lewis committed eight fouls compared to three by the Hawks. In net, Josie Graziosi (Galena, OH/Big Walnut) made four saves to keep the Flyers in front for much of the contest, while Rockhursts Ally Moore stopped five attempts to preserve the draw.
