Indianapolis, Ind. – The Lewis University men's and women's swim teams turned in a strong showing at the House of Champions Invitational, highlighted by championship-final appearances, key consolation-final scoring swims, and a series of NCAA B-cut performances across multiple events.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lewis' top finals showing came from
Davidson Vincent (Thomonde, Haiti/Westlake Preparatory School), who advanced to the championship final of the 100-yard butterfly. Vincent posted a 47.93 NCAA B cut in prelims before returning at night to finish fourth overall in 48.20, securing one of the highest placements of the meet for the Flyers.
On the women's side,
Maria Kretosz (Katowice, Poland/AWF Katowice) broke into the consolation final of the 100-yard breaststroke, placing 14th overall in 1:05.49 after a strong morning swim. In the men's 400 individual medley,
Alex Boller (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) added another scoring finals appearance, finishing 21st overall (4:05.62) in the B final.
Lewis also recorded a strong slate of NCAA B-cut swims across the weekend. In the 500-yard freestyle, Juan Castro surged to a 4:24.15 NCAA B cut and program record while teammate
Andres Bodington (Caracas, Venezuela/Mars Hill) followed with a 4:32.25 NCAA B cut, giving the Flyers two B-Cuts in the event.
Do Dingshoff (Hoogeveen, Netherlands/Roelof Van Echten College) added another B-Cut in the women's 500 free, touching in 5:02.66. The sprint squad delivered as well, with Otavio De Morales Cunha powering to a 20.21 NCAA B cut in the 50 freestyle. Vincent's earlier 47.93 also secured an NCAA cut in the 100 fly.
Rounding out the NCAA-qualifying performances, Eren Yara produced a standout swim in the 400 IM, clocking a 3:57.68 NCAA B cut and continuing Lewis' strong presence in the individual medley events.
UP NEXT
The Flyers return to action as they continue preparing for the mid-season stretch and conference competition. Lewis will look to build on their momentum and carry their championship final success and NCAA B-cut performances into their next matchup against DePauw on Jan. 10 at home.
