RAE STRONG NIGHT
Tonight was Rae Strong Night and Lewis raised money to support all of the wonderful small miracles that bless us. The roots of the Rae Strong Foundation began with the support of Lewis University and continues to be fostered from the strong community at Lewis. In 2018, the Rae Strong Foundation was created as a means to help provide support for preemie families. Dan Friend and Lorelee Smith are the proud parents of Rae, who was born at just 24 weeks, classifying her as a micro preemie. A micro-preemie is a baby born weighing less than 1 pound, 12 ounces or before 26 weeks gestation.  For more information visit: www.raestrong.org

Tonight, Lewis welcomed our wonderful partners tonight from VFC, Volleyball for Charity.  They named RaeStrong last year as a beneficiary and donated $4,700 from the incredible tournament they run.  This event was founded in 1981 by the Clark family in honor of their son, Robbie, who had physical and mental disabilities. Their goal was to raise awareness and funds for organizations supporting individuals with disabilities. Over the span of 35 years, the Clarks raised more than half a million dollars for these impactful causes. In 2016, the Oak Lawn Park District, in partnership with the Special Recreation Athletic Support Association, proudly took over the annual tournament—continuing its mission in Robbie Clark's honor to support deserving individuals and organizations.

VFC has once again named RaeStrong as a beneficiary in this year's tournament being held April 26th at Oak Lawn Community Pavillion in Oak Lawn, IL. For more information and to register for the tournament visit: http://www.volleyballforcharity.org
