ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced June 17 that 12 Lewis University athletes made the Academic All-District At-Large Team. The men who earned the honor were men's volleyball players
Nico Paula (Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Preparatory School) and
Max Roquet (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston), men's lacrosse players
Luke Schroeder (Plymouth, Minnesota/Totino-Grace HS) and
Domenic Tarello (Libertyville, Illinois/Libertyville HS) and men's golfers
Cody Donovan (Cedar Lake, Ind./Hanover Central) and
Ty Doty (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin). Women's bowlers
Savanna Jourdan (Oswego, ILL./Oswego) and
Katharine Svehla (Elmhurst, Ill./York), women's golfers
Dana Euske (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) and
Cassidy Virzi (San Pedro, Calif./Palos Verdes) and women's lacrosse members
Carissa Hoover (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island Senior High School) and
Olivia Paterson (Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada/Dr. Charles Best Secondary School) all were named to the Academic All-District At-Large Team.
The CSC All-District Teams recognize the top student-athletes for their combined performance athletically as well as in the classroom. Nominees must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
Paula, a business analytics major, was AVCA All-American Honorable Mention and All-MIVA First Team. He led the nation with 287 digs and set the program record with 22 digs in a match. He broke the 500 dig mark during the season.
Roquet, a marketing major, was an AVCA All-American Honorable Mention, AVCA All-Region and All-MIVA First Team. He was sixth in the MIVA with 372 kills (3.23 kills/set), tallied 90 blocks and had 33 service aces. He also recorded his 1,000
th career kill and 500
th career dig during the season.
Schroeder, a sport management major, was All-GLVC First Team, USILA All-Region South Team Third Team and a USILA All-American Honorable Mention. He scored 29 goals with 12 assists on the year.
Tarello, a sport management major, was a USA Magazine All-American, USILA All-South Region, All-GLVC First Team and the GLVC Specialist of the Year. He ranked second in the GLVC with 80 groundballs and tied for first in face-off wins (160) and was second in face-off percentage (62.7). He added three goals on the year.
Donovan, a finance major, won the GLVC Individual Golf Title at the GLVC Championships, shooting 6-under par. He had three top-15 finishes throughout the year and averaged 14.47 points per event.
Doty, a business administration major, advanced to the NCAA Midwest/Central Regional, where he placed 36
th. He was All-GLVC First Team, finishing in the top 15 during six events with four top-10s and a runner-up finish. He averaged 27.06 points per event.
Jourdan, a business administration major, led the Flyers with an 81.8 fill percentage and was second on the team, averaging 18.81 pins per frame. She was All-GLVC Honorable Mention and earned GLVC Athlete of the Week for Women's Bowling.
Svehla, an English major, had a career-best average of 18.01 pins per frame and filled 78 percent of her frames. The junior earned her first All-Tournament Team at the Viking Classic.
Euske, a digital media and journalism major, had a scoring average of 86.9 this year.
Virzi, an aviation administration major, had a scoring average of 82.4 and a 124 regional rank. She finished in the top-20 of the Lewis Invitational and took 45
th place at the GLVC Championships. She also was the GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award winner.
Hoover, a design major, started all 17 matches for the Flyers this spring. She recorded 14 groundballs and forced five turnovers.
Paterson, a sport management major, was a Second-Team All-GLVC selection. She recorded 34 groundballs and caused 12 turnovers as a defender.
