Sicard Hired as New Assistant Women's Soccer Coach

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University head women's soccer coach Chris Koenig announced that Grant Sicard is the new assistant women's soccer coach at Lewis. Sicard arrives from Purdue University-Northwest where he spent the past three seasons as an assistant.

"I am really excited to have Grant joining the program," Koenig said. "He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team. Grant will have an immediate impact on recruiting as well as the development of our players. He approaches coaching with character and hard work.  He will be a great fit at Lewis."

"I am extremely grateful and excited to be a part of the Lewis women's soccer team and Lewis athletic department," Sicard said. "It means everything to have Chris and the rest of the department trust me to help move the women's soccer program forward. My wife, who is from the south suburbs of Chicago, always spoke very highly of the university and athletics as a whole. When the position opened, I had a gut feeling that it would be the perfect "next step" in my coaching journey. After touring the campus and having multiple conversations with Chris, the coaching staff, and players, I knew it would be a great fit. There aren't many nicer campuses and better facilities for student-athletes than here at Lewis."

At Purdue Northwest Sicard played an instrumental role in recruiting and development, leading to and in Purdue Northwest's record-breaking season in 2024. In each of his three seasons he helped the team improve in almost every statistical category.

"What Mary has achieved at Purdue Northwest is nothing short of amazing," Sicard said. "Turning around what was one of the lowest ranked teams in the country into a program that can compete with some of the best teams in the country is incredible. My experience working with her and Nicki at PNW will only help me in my efforts here at Lewis. The player profile between the GLVC and GLIAC conferences is very similar. My familiarity with the level of player we need to recruit and develop will probably be the best thing I can take from my time at PNW."

Sicard played soccer in college at the University of Illinois-Chicago and Coker College. He won a High School National Championship with Montverde Academy in Florida in 2015.

"I want to provide a 'spark' to the program," Sicard said. "I love recruiting, player development, and building a community that everyone involved can be proud of. I have always been a 'dreamer', and coming here will be no different. I am excited to push the boundaries of what we can achieve and hopefully create a lasting impact to Lewis women's soccer.

He founded a youth club on the south side of Chicago in 2017 and has been heavily involved in the Chicagoland youth soccer scene since. He lives in Crown Point, Indiana with wife Christina and children Violet, Gianluca and Penelope.
