Box Score Quincy, Ill.- Lewis competed against the Quincy Hawks Saturday afternoon at Pepsi Arena where the host Hawks took Lewis down in three sets .
Quincy advanced their record to 11-2 (2-0 GLVC) while Lewis moved to 7-6 (1-1 GLVC)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lewis started out strong during set one taking a 2-0 lead before the Hawks put a number on the board with junior
Lauren Buxton (Springfield, Ill./Pleasant Plains) accounting for both Lewis kills. With a close first set, both teams battled, but Quincy ultimately took the victory of the first set, 25-22 after they tallied three of the final four points of the first frame.
Quincy started out the second set strong starting off by scoring the first five points of the frame. Despite a Lewis run midway through the set, the Hawks did not let go of their lead and sealed the 25-14 set two victory and moved ahead 2-0.
Lewis struck first to begin the third set thanks to a kill from Buxton. After a brief back and forth after the Buxton kill, Quincy took the lead for good after two kills from Erin Matzke and Janelle Pye-Blacknard made it . Lewis was never able to fully comeback with Quincy winning the set, 25-12 and match 3-0.
Janelle Pye-Blacknard and Susanna Beretti lead the Hawks with a total of 13 kills each while Elena Kasavica had 36 assists. Kasavica also capped off 12 digs. Quincy ended the match with a hitting percentage of .274 (75-16-113).
Buxton led the Flyers with a total of eight kills while freshman
Kaileigh Krawiec (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) had 9 assists. Junior
Elena Gubera (Jamestown, Ind./Western Boone) topped off eight digs across the match. Lewis ended the match with a hitting percentage of .146 (24-11-89)
MATCH NOTES
- Even with the loss, Lewis is 33-7 all-time against Quincy.
- Buxton's .316 hitting percentage is the highest this season for the junior (Min. 10 attempts)
- Senior Avery Holubar (Bargersville, Ind./Center Grove) made her first appearance since Sept. 20 at #11 Barry and fourth appearance overall this year.

Lewis will play again on Sept. 30 against Roosevelt University at 6:00 PM in the Neil Carey Arena in their first home match of the year.
