Box Score 2 Dallas, Texas -- The Lewis University women's softball team opened the 2026 regular season with two losses on Friday at the 2026 D2 Lone Star College Classic.
The Flyers ended the day with a 0-2 record after facing Emporia State for the first game and Northwest Missouri State for the second game.
Game 1 Recap
The Flyers opened up game one versus the Hornets by attacking early with senior
Anna Frafjord (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton High School) knocking in junior
Ariana Trausch (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove High School) with a single in the top of the first inning to put the Flyers ahead early.
Emporia State battled back in the bottom of the third inning with four runs on three hits. Brooke Flewelling drove in two runs with a single to put the Hornets on top 2-1. Flewelling later came around to score with a two out home run by Avery Brewer to right field increasing the Hornets lead to 4-1.
Frafjord got the Lewis offense started again in the top of the fourth inning with a leadoff single. Clever baserunning by the Flyers had
Tori Richardson (Oak Forest, Ill./Tinley Park) steal second base while Frafjord stole home to decrease the deficit to 4-2.
Emporia State responded in the score column in the bottom of the sixth when Addyson Easter hit a ground-rule double for an RBI which capped off the 5-2 win for Emporia State.
Game 2 Recap
Northwest Missouri State came out swinging in the bottom of the first inning after Omara Love gathered an RBI single while a two run double from Timber Wilson extended the lead to 3-0.
Lewis responded quickly by getting on the board with sophomore
Morgan Spodarek (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) coming around to score on a wild pitch to make the deficit 3-1 in the top of the second inning. Lewis went on to load the bases for Trausch who tripled down the right field line to score three runs and push the Flyers ahead at 4-3.
The Bearcats strung together some hits of their own in the bottom of the inning with Love doubling to bring in a run while Kaylee Cords singled to bring in Love to retake the lead at 5-4.
A sacrifice fly for the Flyers in the top of third inning from
Ava Reed (Lemont, Ill./Lemont High School) brought in Frafjord to tie the game at 5-5.
Freshman pitcher
Jolee Strohmeyer (Dubuque, Iowa/Dubuque Senior) took the mound for Lewis in the bottom of the third inning and worked out of a jam by leaving three runners on base to keep the game tied at 5.
The offense for the Flyers came back to life in the top of the fourth with another triple from senior
Kristen Graham (Mapleton, Ill./Illini Bluffs High School) that brought in a run followed by Frafjord getting on from a fielder's choice that brought in Graham to make the score 7-5.
The Bearcats weren't done yet though as they marched back in the bottom of the seventh after a two run single from Love that allowed Cords to hit a walk off RBI double to deep right field bringing in Love to win the game for Northwest Missouri State with a final score of 8-7.

The Flyers will continue their fight in the Lone Star College Classic by playing the University of Minnesota Duluth tomorrow Saturday. First pitch is scheduled at 2:30 PM CST.
