Lewis made a statement at the Windy City Rumble, delivering a day full of solid personal bests and provisional marks.
On the men's side, Cody Machlet (Roselle, Ill./Geneva Community HS) had a top performance in the men's triple jump, winning with a provisional mark of 14.71 meters.
On the track, Brian Holmes (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North HS) dominated the men's 60-meter hurdles with a first-place finish in 8.30 seconds. The men's mile also featured strong showings from Carter Pankiewicz (Plainfield, Ill./Oswego East) (4:41.95), Sadri Ozgul (Burr Ridge, Ill./Stagg) (4:44.52), and Ryan Simpao (4:48.38).Â
On the women's side, Denise Hernandez (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North HS) posted a provisional mark in the triple jump, taking first with a leap of 11.98 meters.Â
Malaina Telschow () celebrated her first collegiate win in the pole vault, clearing 3.48 meters, while Olivia Cox () finished second in the women's shot put (12.62 meters). Karmen Kurowicka (Itasca, Ill./Lake Park HS) took home first in the women's 60-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 8.90 seconds, with Caitlyn O'Boyle (Seneca, Ill./Seneca) close behind in second at 9.11 seconds. Madison Findley (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) also turned in a strong performance, leading Lewis in the women's mile with a time of 5:34.58.
HOW IT HAPPENED AT SVSU
Neil Erasmus () had a great day in the men's heptathlon, recording an NCAA provisional mark with a victory in the long jump at 7.00 meters. Brynlee Keeran (Catlin, Ill./Catlin HS)Â also turned in a strong performance, placing second in the women's pentathlon shot put with a throw of 10.30 meters.Â
