Flyers Pile Up Wins and NCAA Marks at Lee Slick Invite

HOW IT HAPPENED IN NAPERVILLE
The men's jumps group set the tone early. Nile Erasmus delivered a standout day with two NCAA marks and personal bests, winning both the pole vault (4.91m) and the long jump (7.24m). Abraham Christian (Huntley, Ill./Huntley HS) added another NCAA mark in the high jump, clearing 2.05m for the win. In the triple jump, Cody Machlet (Roselle, Ill./Geneva Community HS) and Kevin Danowski (Orland, Ill./Carl Sandburg HS) went 1-2, with Machlet jumping 14.22m and Danowski 13.23m.

On the track, Cagini Pilgrim (Castries, Saint Lucia/) had a great day, winning the men's 60m in a personal-best 6.81, now tied for first in the GLVC, and doubling back to claim the 200m title in 22.28. Brian Holmes (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North HS) captured the men's 60m hurdles crown in 8.13, while Adrien Manning (Shorewood, Ill./Minooka) took first in the men's 400m with a time of 50.42. 

Dillon Pottschmidt (1:59.66) and Declan Hurley (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) (8:58.82) each earned runner-up finishes in the men's 800m and men's 3000m, respectively. 

The men's 4x400 relay team of Cagini Pilgrim (Castries, Saint Lucia/), Aidan Killmer (Bloomingdale, Ill./Lake Park HS), Brian Holmes (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North HS), and Adrien Manning (Shorewood, Ill./Minooka) sealed the day with a victory in 3:24.45.

The throws crew continued its strong season showing. Ben Saucedo (/) led the way in the men's weight throw with a winning mark of 17.69m, while Sterling Sawicki () placed second at 16.33m. 

On the women's side, Aubrey Brinkman (Mapleton, Ill./Illini Bluffs HS) claimed a first-place finish in the weight throw at 16.24m. Olivia Cox () followed closely behind, earning a personal best of 16.17m to place second, before going on to win the shot put with another personal-record mark of 13.37m. Amanda Melton () added to the strong showing in the shot put, finishing second with a throw of 11.91m.

The women's sprints and jumps also impressed. Rebeca Cravedi dominated the 60m (7.77) and 200m (25.23), winning both events. Denise posted NCAA marks in both the triple jump (11.86m) and long jump (5.97m), capturing first place in each. Veronika Walkosz () (11.39m) and Riley Warren (/) (11.16m) placed second and third in the triple jump, respectively. 

In the women's pole vault, Brynlee Keeran (Catlin, Ill./Catlin HS) cleared 3.91m for the win, while Riley Warren (/) added a third-place finish at 3.66m. Karmen Kurowicka (Itasca, Ill./Lake Park HS) secured first in the women's high jump with a clearance of 1.65m.

UP NEXT
The Flyers now turn their focus to the GLVC Championships, set for February 28-March 1 at the University of Indianapolis, as they look to carry their momentum into the conference meet.
