STUNT Concludes Weekend with Trio of Contests

HOW IT HAPPENED (VS DRURY)
Quincy, Ill. – March 21 – Lewis University STUNT opened the day with a 23-18 loss to Drury University. Drury gained early control by winning three of the four routines in the first quarter to take a 6-3 lead. Lewis picked up points in jumps and tumbling to stay within reach but was forced to play from behind.
 
The Panthers continued to hold the advantage in the second quarter, extending the margin to 10-6 at halftime. Lewis remained competitive and earned key points in partner stunts and pyramids, but Drury's steady execution helped maintain the separation.
 
Lewis made a push in the third quarter and began to close the gap. The Flyers won multiple routines and cut the deficit to 15-12 heading into the fourth quarter. Both teams traded points late in the meet, but Drury was able to finish strong and hold on for the 23-18 victory.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED (VS MARYVILLE)
Quincy, Ill. – March 21 – Lewis fell 26-19 to Maryville University in its second meet of the day. Maryville set the tone early by winning three routines in the opening quarter to take a 5-1 lead.
The Saints continued to build momentum in the second quarter, pushing the advantage to 11-4 at halftime. Lewis battled throughout the first half and found success in several routines but was unable to string together enough points to significantly cut into the deficit.
 
The Flyers responded with a strong third quarter, winning three routines to narrow the gap to 14-10 entering the final frame. Lewis stayed competitive down the stretch, but Maryville capitalized on key routines in the fourth quarter to pull away and secure the 26-19 win.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED (VS SW BAPTIST)
Quincy, Ill. – March 22 – Lewis University STUNT closed competition with a 10-0 shutout victory over Southwest Baptist University. The Flyers started strong by earning points in both routines of the first quarter to take an early 2-0 lead.
 
Lewis continued its consistent performance in the second quarter, adding two more points to extend the advantage to 4-0 at halftime. The Flyers maintained control in the third quarter, increasing the lead to 6-0 while limiting Southwest Baptist's scoring opportunities.
 
Lewis finished the meet with a solid fourth quarter, earning four additional points to complete the shutout. The Flyers controlled the meet from start to finish and ended the weekend with a strong overall performance.

UP NEXT
The Flyers will prepare for the GLVC Championships which are set to be held from April 3-4.
