HOW IT HAPPENED AT CHICAGOLANDS
Elmhurst, Ill. - The Flyers delivered a strong all-around performance at the Chicagoland Championships this weekend.
Denise Hernandez (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North HS) led the way on the track, capturing first place in the 100 meters with a personal-best time of 11.80.
Rebecca Cravedi (Piacenza, Italy/) added two podium finishes, placing third in both the 200 meters (25.23) and 400 meters (57.66), while
Olivia Pastovich (Aurora, Ill./Kaneland) turned in a standout race in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing second with a personal-best 1:05.63.
In distance events,
Morgan Gioia (Park Ridge, Ill./) secured a third-place finish in the steeplechase with a time of 11:20.59. The field events continued the momentum, as
Brynlee Keeran (Catlin, Ill./Catlin HS) placed third in the pole vault (3.71m), and Veronica Walkosz earned a runner-up finish in the triple jump (11.29m).
Olivia Cox () added another podium finish with a third-place mark of 44.87m in the hammer throw.
On the men's side,
Cagini Pilgrim (Castries, Saint Lucia/) took second in the 200 meters (21.58), while
Andrew Ciarlette (Plainfield, Ill./Joliet Junior College) finished second in the steeplechase (9:45.92).
Adam Greszkiewicz () rounded out the meet with a second-place finish in the long jump (6.64m).
HOW IT HAPPENED AT PLATTEVILLE
Platteville, Wi - The Flyers' distance squad turned in a series of strong performances in the 5,000 meters at the UW- Platteville Invitational on Friday evening.
Gabriel Cates (Purcellville, Vir./Loudoun Valley) led the group with a 15-second personal best of 14:27.76, followed by
Owen Thomas (Valparaiso, IN/Morgan Township), who clocked 14:47.27 for a four-second PR.
Matthew Torres (Westmont, IL/Math and Science Academy) made his return to the 5,000 meters for the first time in two years, finishing in 15:14.29.
Additional improvements came from
Declan Hurley (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) (15:26.49, PR),
Noah Gallivan (Alton, Ill./Alton) (15:42.10, debut), and
Sadri Ozgul (Burr Ridge, Ill./Stagg), who recorded a 12-second personal best with a time of 15:45.46.
The group showed strong depth and continued progression, contributing to a weekend full of improved GLVC performances as the Flyers build toward the outdoor championships.

The Flyers continue their outdoor season across multiple meets next week, competing at the Gibson Invitational in Bourbonnais, the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, and the Beach Invitational in Long Beach from April 16-18.
