ROMEOVILLE, Ill.--The Lewis University swimming teams record 48 season- or career-best times in a pair of meets this past weekend.
The Flyers traveled Jan. 21 to a dual meet against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Indianapolis and then hosted a double dual against North Central and College of DuPage on Jan. 22.
Lewis' women lost to Indianapolis 133-74, while the men fell 111-79. The teams turned around and won both sides of their double dual on Jan. 22.
Freshman Adam Brown highlighted the team's efforts at Indianapolis with a school-record 9:58.34 in the 1000 freestyle that earned him first place in the event.
Against UIndy, Lewis' men won five events, while the women claimed three event victories.
For the men, sophomore Adam Bidlack recorded wins in the 200 (1:46.57) and 500 (4:49.99) freestyles; senior Josh Rogers won the 100 freestyle (47.12); and the 200 freestyle relay team consisting of Rogers, Jevgenijs Pesins, Kurt Niemeier and Michael Lapustin earned a win in 1:26.11.
Lewis's women were paced by Michelle Sliva (Waterville, Ohio/Notre Dame)'s 5:21.88 in the 500 freestyle and Stephanie White-Olson (St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral)'s 2:31.93 in the 200 breaststroke. In addition, the 200 freestyle relay (Tristine Schmidt, Marissa Andrews, Staci Neuman and Brittany Reetz) took first in 1:47.14.
Both Flyer teams easily won their double dual meet with North Central and COD. Rogers produced the meet's highlight with a pool record 47.33 in the 100 freestyle.
Lewis' regular season has concluded and the teams will now prepare for the GLIAC Championships to be held at Wayne State (Mich.) Feb. 16-19.
