Romeoville, Ill. -
For the second-straight game, the Lewis University men's basketball team scored 50+ first-half points, as the Flyers posted 57 tallies in the opening stanza against Trinity Christian en route to the 90-59 non-conference win over the Trolls at Neil Carey Arena on Monday (Dec. 19) night.

Lewis senior forward Matt Toth (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) collected a team-high 20 points, while classmate Chris McClellan (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling) (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling) scored 15 points, going 5-for-6 from long range. Over his past four games, McClellan is shooting 72.2% (13-for-18) from three-point distance.

Flyer senior forward Justin Jarosz (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) came off the bench and scored 13 points on 5-for-7 shooting.

With the win, Lewis extends its winning streak to three games and improves to 7-2 on the season. Tonight's contest served as an exhibition game for Trinity Christian.

As a team, Lewis shot a blistering 63.2% (36-for-57) from the floor, which was a season-high outing. That was the best field goal percentage by a Flyer team since a 67.2% (41-for-61) output in a 101-82 win over UW-Parkside on January 17, 2009. Lewis, led by McClellan's five trifectas, knocked down 52.6% (10-for-19) of their three-point attempts.

Trinity Christian junior guard BJ Wortham scored a game-high 24 points for the visiting Trolls on 10-for-20 shooting.

"I thought we played excellent in the first half," Lewis head men's basketball coach Scott Trost said. "In the second half, it's only human nature to let up and relax and that caused us to play some sloppy basketball.

"It was a good win, so let's enjoy our break and get ready for a tough strech of basketball when we come back."

Lewis will be off for 11 days before returning to Neil Carey Arena on New Year's Eve for a 3 p.m. showdown against Wayne State.
