Romeoville, Ill. - The No. 7 Lewis Men's Volleyball team turned in another dominating performance, as the Flyers hit .520 (44-5-75) to extend their winning streak to eight matches with the 25-14, 25-13, 25-15 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association victory over Quincy University at Neil Carey Arena on Thursday (March 1) night.

All six starters for the Flyers hit over .444 on the evening. Flyer junior
Jay Petty (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) hit .455 (12-2-22) on his way to a match-high 12 kills, while junior
Ian Karbiener (Orlando, Fla./Olympia) (Orlando, Fla./Olympia) had a hitting percentage of .474 (11-2-19) and finished with 11 kills and eight digs. Flyer freshman
Greg Petty (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) (Downers Grove,Ill./Downers Grove North) added nine kills and eight digs.
The Flyer middle hitting tandem of
Matt Gallik (Evergreen Park, Ill./Brother Rice) (Evergreen Park,Ill./Brother Rice) and
Aaron Flick (North Ridgeville, Ohio/St. Edward) (North Ridgeville, Ohio/St. Edward) was flawless as the senior duo combined for 10 kills and a hitting percentage of .588 (10-0-17). Gallik had six kills, while Flick chipped in four kills. Lewis setter
BJ Boldog (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) finished with 39 assists, four digs and three block assists.
With the victory, Lewis improves to 14-3 on the campaign and 4-1 in MIVA action, while the Hawks are now 13-5 on the season and 0-4 in conference play. The eight-match winning streak is officially the longest such streak since the Flyers accomplished that same feat during the 2000 campaign.
"Our guys have shown a lot of composure during this streak and I think that comes with a lot of match experience," Friend said. "We're working hard every day because we're trying to win a national championship and I think the streak is a product of that."
Lewis outdug Quincy, 31-25 and enjoyed an 8.5-1 advantage in blocking.
Quincy's Steven Battaglia topped the Hawks with eight kills on the evening.
Lewis returns to action on Friday (March 9), as the Flyers head to California to participate in the Active Ankle Classic, hosted by Long Beach State. The Flyers open the Classic against Cal Baptist at 5 p.m. (PST) on March 9th.
