Lewis Men’s Golf Finishes Tied For Sixth At NCAA Midwest Regional No. 2

Eureka, Mo. – Lewis University sophomore Alex Thode (Washington, Iowa/Washington) finished third with a 143 (70-73) at the NCAA Midwest Regional No. 2 on Tuesday (Oct. 15) to lead the men's golf team to a sixth-place tie with Grand Valley State with a total score of 607 (306-301).
 
The University of Missouri-St. Louis hosted the 23-team field at the Fox Run Golf Course (par 72, 7,028 yards). Malone University won the team title with a score of 575 (292-283) while Malone's Tyler Light took home the individual title after posting a two-round total of 137 (69-68).
 
Flyer sophomore Robert Dofflemyer III (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) and junior Jeremy Fraser (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way North) both finished tied for 21st with a two-round total of 151. Dofflemeyer posted a score of 72 in the second round, erasing seven strokes off of his first round total (79). Fraser turned in a 73 on Tuesday, taking five strokes off of his Monday total (78).

"Alex (Thode), Jeremy (Fraser) and Robert (Dofflemeyer III) all stepped up and played great over the past two days," Lewis head men's golf coach Skip Steffey said. "Right now, the team is feeling confidant that on any day they can play with any team in the region."
 
Junior Ryan Frederick (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) turned in a score of 162 (79-83) while senior Mark Bermele (Evergreen Park, Ill./Brother Rice) rounded out the Flyers with a total of 166 (82-84).
