Florence, Ky. – Lewis University sophomore
Robert Dofflemyer III (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) posted a two-round total of 146 (73-73) to finish third individually and lead the men's golf team to a second-place tie with a team score of 607 (308-299) at the Saginaw Valley State Cardinal Spring Invitational on Sunday (March 23).
Ashland University also posted a tournament total of 607, while Grand Valley State turned in a team total of 600 to take home the invitational title after playing the course at the Boone Links Golf Club.
"This was a great way to start our spring season," Lewis assistant men's golf coach Mallory Carr said. "I am very proud of their play against ranked teams in the region."

Alex Thode (Washington, Iowa/Washington) turned in a 152 (81-71) while junior
Ryan Frederick (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) posted a score of 154 (79-75).
Junior
Jeremy Fraser (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way North) finished with a two-round total 156 (75-81) while senior
Dan Petrarca (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) rounded out the Flyers with a score of 165 (85-80).
Playing as individuals, freshman
Ethan Yamada (Arvada, Colo./Ralson) finished the invitational with a total of 157 (77-80) while senior
Mark Bermele (Evergreen Park, Ill./Brother Rice) was just off of his pace with a 160 (79-81).
The Flyers are back in action on Saturday (April 5) at the Midwest Regional No. 3, hosted by Bellarmine at the Elks Run Golf Club in Batavia, Ohio.
