Amy Polhemus (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) finished third overall and set a NCAA Provisional mark of 3:45.12 in the preliminary heats to lead the No. 19 women's track and field team at the Drake Relays on Friday (April 24) afternoon at Drake Stadium.
The mark is also the second-fastest time in Lewis history, falling short of the current standard of 3:44.86. This performance places the Flyers in the finals, set for 4 PM on Saturday (April 25) afternoon.
"It was a great race and we're very excited for the finals tomorrow," Lewis Assistant Women's Track and Field Coach
James Kearney said. "We're excited and look forward to the prospects of potentially punching our ticket to the national meet."
Lewis will begin third day action of the Drake Relays at 10 AM on Saturday morning.
