INDIANAPOLIS – Lewis University's swimming and diving program swept the PNC GLVC Athletes of the Week for swimming and diving as junior
Erin Bachmeier (Savage, Minn./Burnsville) and senior
Ari Kissel (Berlin, Germany/) were both honored by the league on Tuesday (Dec. 7) for their performances last weekend against Valparaiso.
Bachmeier won two individual events and was a member of two winning relays against the Beacons. She won the 50 free with a time of 25.47 and touched first in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:07.76. Bachmeier swam the second leg of the winning 200 medley relay squad with a split of 29.31 in the breast portion of the relay. She swam the anchor leg in the 400 free relay posting a split of 54.93 seconds. Bachmeier is the second Flyer to be named Athlete of the Week this season joining
Larissa Alves (Panama/) who won the award on Nov. 16.
Kissel won two individual events, was a member of the winning 200 medley relay and posted a fourth place finish in the 200 breast in the win over Valparaiso. He won the 100 back in a personal best time of 52.58 seconds and touched first in the 100 free with a season-best time of 46.72 seconds. Kissel swam the anchor leg of the 200 medley relay posting a split of 20.97 seconds. He finished fourth in the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:16.15. He earns his first career Athlete of the Week award and is the third Flyer to be named GLVC Athlete of the Week this season joining
Ruben van Leeuwen (Eindhoven, The Netherlands/CIU/Christelyk Lyceum Veenendaal) (Nov. 2) and
Jackson Mugg (Cheyenne, Wyoming/Cheyenne East) (Nov. 16).
Lewis returns to the poll on Friday (Jan. 14) taking on the University of Chicago in a dual at the Myers-McLoraine Pool in Chicago at 6 p.m.
