ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's fourth ranked has received the No. 3 seed in the 2021 NCAA Division I/II men's volleyball championship May 3-8.
The seven-team field will compete entirely in Columbus, Ohio, hosted by The Ohio State University. Opening round matches will take place May 3 and 4, with the championship taking place May 6-8.
The Flyers secured the automatic bid after taking down No. 10 Loyola Chicago to win the 2021 MIVA Tournament championship. The Flyers will play its first game on May 4 at 8 pm EST.
Penn State (21-3) and Belmont Abbey (15-7) will face each other in a play-in match to begin the tournament next Monday (May 3) at 5 pm EST. The winter of that match will face Lewis (20-2) in the first round next Tuesday. The winner of that match will face second seeded BYU in the second round next Thursday (May 6) at 8 pm EST.
Penn State received their automatic tournament bid after winning the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association. Belmont Abbey is making their tournament debut with an automatic bid from winning the Conference of Carolinas.
This is the eighth tournament appearance for the Flyers and their second straight.
