LISLE, Ill. – Lewis's women's track and field team won 11 events and had 40 top eight finishes as it won the Benedictine Eagle Tune-Up with 290 points on Friday afternoon in Lisle, Ill. The Flyers picked up three NCAA provisional marks and had several individuals record personal records.
Kylie Wymer (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) won the shot put with a season and personal best heave of 14.67 meters (48'1.75"). The heave also improved her provisional qualifying mark and moved her up to 15th in Division II this season.
Ratkoslava Karac (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield) took second in the event with a heave of 12.77 meters (41'10.75").
Alyssa Betlejeski (Shorewood, Ill./Joliet West) recorded a personal best in the discus with a throw of 39.97 meters (131'2") while Wymer was second in the event with a toss of 36.74 meters (120'6").
Aliza Van Den Elzen (Hortonville, Wis./Hortonville) and
Natasha Bernett (McAlpin, Ill./Lane Tech) finished first and second respectively in the javelin with each recording provisional qualifying marks and achieving personal bests in thee event. Van Den Elzen won the event with a heave of 42.53 meters (139'6") breaking the school record that was set in 1990 and is also a personal best for her while Bernett finished at 42.11 meters (138'2").
Jozlyn Garcia (Sterling, Ill./Sterling HS) finished third in the event.
Jena Martin (Smithville, Mo./Smithville) won the long jump with a leap of 5.12 meters (16'9.75") while Ramon was second and Bernett was third in the event.
Alecea Cardillo (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North),
Tsitsi Mahachi (Harare, Zimbabwe/Chisipite Senior School),
Jaden Christian (Braidwood, Ill./Braidwood (Reed-Custer)) and
Rachael Ramon (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) took the top four spots in the triple jump. Cardillo won the event with a jump of 11.92 meters (39'1.25").
Jamie Poppen (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West) took the top spot in the pole vault clearing the bar at 3.40 meters (11'1.75") while
Katelyn Gall (Channahon, Ill./Minooka) was third in the event.
Garcia and
Nadia Roberts (Burbank, Ill./Burbank (Reavis)) went first and second in the high jump. Garcia won it clearing the bar at a height of 1.56 meters (5'1.25") while Roberts cleared it at 1.53 meters (5'0.25").
Ramon, Bernett,
Alexandra Martinez (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfeild Central) and
Kyla Chalmers (Elk Grove Village, Ill./James B. Conant) finished first through fourth in the 100 meters with Ramon recording the winning time of 12.59 seconds. Bernett set a personal record in the preliminary round with a time of 12.66 seconds.
Anna Kozak (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) was the winner in the 800 meters with a time of 2:23.53.
Dayanna Sanchez (Berwyn, Ill./Morton) was third in the event finishing at 2:30.30.
Chalmers,
Faith Wyman (Trenton, Ill./Trenton (Wesclin)) and Martinez finished first, second and fourth respectively in the 200 meters. Chalmers won the event with a time of 26.09 seconds.
Vanessa Peinado (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Hoffman Estates),
Caroline Pacer (Wheaton, Ill./West Chicago) and
Sophia Wilks (Freeport, Ill./Freeport) finished first, third and fifth respectively in the 5000 meters. Peinado won the even the event with a time of 18:45.70.
Lewis' 4x400 meter relay squad of
Arianna Amill-Ramos (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook),
Abbey Kozak (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township),
Kassady Learn (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) and
Anna Kozak (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) won the event with a time of 4:29.45 while the quartet of Pacer, Peinado, Sanchez and
Taylor Renkes (Dixon, Ill./Dixon) finished third in the race.
The Flyers are back in action beginning next Thursday competing in the GLVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Missouri S&T's Allgood-Bailey Stadium in Rolla, Mo.
