INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced the postseason awards for men's soccer Thursday (Nov. 3) with Lewis having six players awarded to All-GLVC Honors including
Sebastian Doppelhofer (Liebmannweg, Austria/Kapfenburg), who also named Co-Defensive Player of the Year.
Doppelhofer was awarded Co-Defensive Player of the Year with his performance in goal this season for the Flyers. The sophomore played in 14 matches with 1,220 minutes played, recording 41 saves while ranking third in goals against average (0.81) and save percentage (.788).
Cristian Perez (Cicero, Ill./Morton East) was named to the All-GLVC First Team after playing and starting in all 16 matches for Lewis this season. Perez ranked second in the GLVC with eight goals scored this season and fourth in total points with 17.
Charles Carlback (Karlskrona, Sweden/FK Karlskrona), Doppelhofer and
Arturs Gorodnickis (Riga, Latvia/Riga) were named to the All-GLVC Second Team. Carlback, sophomore defender, was named to the All-GLVC Second Team after his performance on the pitch this season, playing in 15 contests, scoring two goals while only allowing 13 goals which is less than a goal per match.
Doppelhofer was awarded All-GLVC Second Team honors on top of his Co-Defensive Player of the Year Award. Gorodnickis, sophomore defender, was also named to the All-GLVC Second Team after playing in 15 games and starting in 14 for Lewis this season and also helped a defensive line, which put up seven shutouts this season.
Justin Darlage (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) and
Zahkar Shkidchenko (Kiev, Ukraine/) were named to the third team. Darlage, a junior defender, was named to the All-GLVC Third Team after playing and starting all 16 matches for Lewis this season. The junior has also scored three goals and assisted on two goals for the season so far.
Shkidchenko, a graduate student forward was named to the All-GLVC Third Team after playing and starting in 14 matches this season for the Flyers. Shkidchenko recorded three goals and assited on two others to give him eight points for the season.
Matthew Beaulieu (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) was also named James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Honoree for Lewis. Beaulieu appeared in 15 contests for the Flyers this season.
The GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award are student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. These individuals must also be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. The honorees are now eligible to become one of their school's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year.
