ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's men's track and field team recorded a second place finish on Saturday at North Central's Pat Heenan Invite in Naperville, Ill. The Flyers recorded two event wins with
Justin Rivers (Bolingbrook, IL/) winning the high jump and
Anthony Pena (East Moline, Ill./Pleasant Valley (Iowa)) taking the top spot in the mile.
Rivers won the high jump hitting a provisional mark on his last jump at 2.08 meters (6'9.75"). He had three chances at 2.10 meters but missed on all three of them.
Lewis had seven of the top 10 finishers in the mile led by Pena who crossed the line at 4:17.56.
Charlie Wirth (Greenville, WI/Hortonville HS) was third at 4:19.96,
Zach Fresenko (Louisville, Ohio/Louisville) came in fifth at 4:20.86,
Dustin Macuiba (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) was seventh at 4:21.51 and
Michael Jarvis (Greenville, Wis./Hortonville) and
Ian Morrison (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield North HS) were ninth and 10th with times of 4:24.38 and 4:25.22 respectively.
Andrew Mykulanych (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) and
Reese Kocanda (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) were fourth and sixth respectively in the 60 meters as Mykulanych crossed the line at 7.10 seconds and Kocanda finished at 7.16 seconds.
Keegan Zack (Watseka, Ill./Watseka Community) won the 200 meters in a time of 22.63 seconds while
Rackesh Ragoo (Merrillville, Ind./Merrillville) was seventh at 23.26 seconds.
The Flyers had three of the top six finishers in the 400 meters and were led by
Connor Wagner (Elgin, Ill./Burlington Central) with a time of 51.01 seconds.
Will DeBolt (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) took fifth at 51.31 seconds and
Jacoby Jones (Romeoville, Ill./Romeoville) finished sixth at 51.41 seconds.
Dan Ford (Romeoville, Ill./Romeoville), Dillon Pottschmidt and
Daniel Arimi (Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) were second, fourth and sixth respectively in the 800 meters. Ford finished at 1:55.50 followed by Pottschmidt at 1:56.95 and Arimi came in at 1:57.19.
Kevin Cousins (Mishawaka, IN/Saint Joseph HS) was sixth in the pole vault clearing the bar at 4.10 meters (13'5.25") while Zack won the triple jump with a leap of 14.42 meters (47'3.75") missing out on a provisional mark by 0.02 meters. DeBolt was fifth in the event at 13.59 meters (44'7").
Gyasi Boisson (Trinidad and Tobago/) was sixth in the shot put at 14.14 meters (46'4.75") while
Zyaire Shermon (/) finished seventh in the weight throw hitting a mark of 14.31 meters (46'11.5").
The Flyers head back to North Central next Friday (Feb. 18) for the Lee Slick Invitational beginning at 4 p.m. It'll be Lewis' final tune up meet before the GLVC Indoor Championships the following weekend.
