ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's women's track and field team finished second with 160.66 points at North Central's Pat Heenan Invite in Naperville, Ill.
Rose Ogbuli finished second in the 60 meters with a time of 7.88 seconds.
Lewis had four top 10 finishes in the 200 meters led by
Jada Hoffman (Chicago, Ill./Kenwood Academy) who won the event in a time of 25.10 seconds.
Kyla Chalmers (Elk Grove Village, Ill./James B. Conant) was third in the event at 26.19 and
Essence Winters (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East) and
Alexandra Martinez (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfeild Central) were ninth and 10th with times of 26.87 and 26.96 respectively.
Vivica Phillips (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South HS) and
Faith Wyman (Trenton, Ill./Trenton (Wesclin)) were fourth and fifth in the 400 meters. Phillips posted a time of 1:00.79 while Wyman finished at 1:00.86.
Kristen Ess (Aviston, Ill./Central Community HS) came in sixth in the 800 meters crossing the line at 2:28.98.
Jade Miller (Dixon, Ill./Dixon HS) finished 10th at 2:30.50 while
Carly Shipman (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central HS) finished 11th in a time of 2:30.61.
Miller came back later in the day to win the mile run with a time of 5:19.77 and Shipman was 11th at 5:36.83.
Natasha Bernett (McAlpin, Ill./Lane Tech) posted a provisional qualifying mark time of 8.72 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles while
Allison Mack (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park HS) finished sixth and
Aliza Van Den Elzen (Hortonville, Wis./Hortonville) was seventh with times of 9.63 and 9.67 respectively.
Lewis' 4x400 meter relay team of Wyman, Bernett, Phillips and Chalmers won the event in a time of 3:57.57 while its squad of Mack, Winters, Nadia Robers and Van Den Elzen finished eighth at 4:20.87.
Roberts and Van Den Elzen finished second and fourth respectively in the high jump as Roberts cleared the bar at 1.64 meters (5'4.5") while Van Den Elzen cleared it at 1.58 meters (5'2.25").
Jamie Poppen (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West) was the runner up in the pole vault clearing the bar at 3.50 meters (11'5.75") while
Katelyn Gall (Channahon, Ill./Minooka) took ninth at 3.05 meters (10'0").
The Flyers had six of the top 10 finishers in the long jump with
Alecea Cardillo (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) leading the way with a second place finish hitting a provisional mark at 5.79 meters (19'0").
Kamryn Kolb (Wyanet, Ill./Bureau Valley HS) was third at 5.65 meters (18'6.5"),
Jaden Christian (Braidwood, Ill./Braidwood (Reed-Custer)) finished fourth at 5.62 meters (18'5.25") and
Jena Martin (Smithville, Mo./Smithville) took fifth at 5.43 meters (17'9.75").
Tori Hagg (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah Community HS) came in at eighth hitting a mark of 5.16 meters and Van Den Elzen was 10th at 4.91 meters (16'1.5").
Lewis had five of the top six finishers in the triple jump with Cardillo winning the event with a leap of 12.15 meters (39'10.5") which improved her provisional mark and now ranks 13th in Division II. Christian was second at 11.61 meters (38'1.25"), Hagg finished fourth with a leap of 11.43 meters (37'6"),
Anna Laudizio (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) finished fifth at 11.40 meters (37'5") and Martin was sixth at 11.23 meters (36'10.25").
Kylie Wymer (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) and
Ratkoslava Karac (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield) were fourth and fifth in the shot put with marks of 12.84 meters (42'1.5") and 12.56 meters (41'2.5") respectively. Wymer also finished fourth in the weight throw hitting a mark of 15.82 meters (51'11") while Karac came in 10th at 13.63 meters (44'8.75").
The Flyers head back to North Central next Friday (Feb. 18) for the Lee Slick Invitational beginning at 4 p.m. It'll be Lewis' final tune up meet before the GLVC Indoor Championships the following weekend.
