ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University redshirt-sophomore
John Davis (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) was named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday (March 15).
This is his first career MIVA Defensive Player of the Week honor and he's the second Flyer to win the award this season.
Jason Gibbs (Bellaire, Texas/Bellarie) won the honor on Feb. 1.
No. 12 Lewis dropped both their matches at fourth ranked Hawai'i last weekend. Davis averaged 3.5 digs and 0.33 blocks per set last weekend. He had a match-high 19 digs on Saturday evening which were the second most in a four-set match in school history dating back to 2005. He also added two blocks in the contest.
The Flyers return to the court on Thursday as they take on McKendree at 6 p.m. at Neil Carey Arena.
