SMYRNA, Tenn. - The Lewis University women's bowling team capped off its regular season Sunday (March 20) with an 18th place showing out of 33 schools at the Music City Classic at Smyrna Bowling Center. The tournament featured 19 ranked schools with the Flyers defeating two of those schools.
In Friday's baker play, the Flyers went 2-3, shooting 4,524 to sit in 21st place. They fell to No. 8 Stephen F. Austin State 1,037-929, defeated North Central 918-787, lost to No. 1 McKendree 1,073-891, fell to Alabama A&M 877-827 and beat No. 16 Sacred Heart 959-917.
Saturday Lewis went 2-3 in traditional play but shot 4,827 to jump to 17th place. It fell to No. 9 Youngstown State 1,103-991 and No. 18 Wisconsin Whitewater 1,029-942, defeated No. 23 Central Missouri 958-934, lost to No. 5 North Carolina A&T 1,098-930 and beat Drury 1,006-918.
In baker match play Sunday the Flyers beat Valparaiso 4-2 (212-146, 192-181, 150-202, 202-211, 177-149, 163-148), lost to No. 20 Long Island 4-1 (161-206, 169-223, 174-169, 196-203, 160-224) and fell 4-1 to Whitewater (137-255, 153-184, 178-157, 149-184, 161-220).
Leading the way for Lewis was
Kylie Johnson (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere North), who shot a 1,118 over five games (234-222-258-181-223)Â to place eighth.
Kayla Dench (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield East) shot a 956,
Erica Lohr (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie)Â added a 935,
Jenna Sussenbach (Naperville, Ill./Plainfield North) had a 685 in four games,
Savanna Jourdan (Oswego, ILL./Oswego) had a 539 in three games,
DeAlani Fishbeck (Lawton, Okla./Lawton) had a 348 in two games and
Morgan Lane (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) had a 246 game.
The Flyers head to Valley Park, Mo. for the Great Lakes Valley Conference championships beginning Frlday.
