Box Score WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Lewis University's softball team dropped its third straight on Wednesday morning as it was defeated by Concordia-St. Paul 9-1 in five innings at the Polk County DiamondPlex in Winter Haven, Fla. The Flyers were leading Sioux Falls 5-1 in the top of the fourth when heavy rains suspended play and forced the game to be canceled before it became an official game.

In the first game on Wednesday the Golden Bears (10-1) sent 10 batters to the plate in the top of the first scoring four runs on only two hits with four walks and a hit by pitch as seven straight batters reached to start the game.

CSP added to its lead in the second inning as Alexus Houston led off the inning with a home run. The Bears added two more runs in the fourth as Sydney Pelzer walked with the bases loaded to force home a run and Jacey Defries scored on a wild pitch.

Lewis (9-7) got on the board in the bottom of the fourth as Kristin Kavalauskas (Oak Forest, Ill./Tinley Park) hit a home run to left for her first of the season.

Concordia-St. Paul added two more in the fifth and then held the Flyers in the home half of the inning for the run rule victory.

Lewis was held to three hits in the contest with Kavalauskas, Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, Ill./H.D. Jacobs) and Jalyn Powell (Tolono, Ill./Unity) picking up a hit apiece. Kaelyn Leverson (Atlanta, Ill./Olympia) took the loss allowing four runs on one hit with four walks and a hit batter as she faced only six batters in the contest.

The Flyers begin Great Lakes Valley Conference play this Friday (March 11) as they'll host McKendree in a doubleheader at The Dome at the Ballpark in Rosemont, Ill.
