ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis University's women's track and field team won three events and had 34 top 10 finishes at the Olivet Nazarene Tiger Invite on Saturday in Bourbonnais, Ill.
Rose-Marie Ogbuli (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield East),
Alexandra Martinez (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfeild Central) and
Selena Tucker (Eastvale, Calif.) were first, eighth and 10th in the 100 meters with times of 12.11 seconds, 12.59 seconds and 13.04 seconds respectively. Ogbuli was fifth in the 200 meters at 25.32 seconds while
Kyla Chalmers (Elk Grove Village, Ill./James B. Conant) came in fourth at 25.30 seconds.
Chalmers and
Vivica Phillips (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South HS) were fourth and seventh in the 400 meters. Chalmers had a time of 58.40 seconds while Phillips finished at 59.25 seconds.
Lewis had three of the top 10 finishers in the 1500 meters led by
Caroline Pacer's (Wheaton, Ill./West Chicago) fourth place finish in a time of 4:52.01 while Naylah Allen and
Jade Miller (Dixon, Ill./Dixon HS) were seventh and 10th respectively at 4:58.58 and 5:03.72.
Aliza Van Den Elzen (Hortonville, Wis./Hortonville) and
Allison Mack (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park HS) took third and fifth in the 100 hurdles. Van Den Elzen had a time of 16.40 seconds while Mack finished at 16.91 seconds. Mack also took third in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:10.18.
Taylor Renkes (Dixon, Ill./Dixon) and
Grace Schmucker (Fremont, Ind./Fremont) were fourth and fifth in the steeplechase with times of 13:24.66 and 14:18.65 respectively.
Nadia Roberts (Burbank, Ill./Burbank (Reavis)) was the runner-up in the high jump clearing the bar at 1.59 meters (5'2.5") while Van Den Elzen finished eighth at 1.49 meters (4'10.5").
Jamie Poppen (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West) took the top spot in the pole vault clearing the bar at a height of 3.55 meters (11'7.75").
The Flyers had five place in the top six of the long jump led by
Kamryn Kolb's (Wyanet, Ill./Bureau Valley HS) second place finish. Kolb had a leap of 5.76 meters (18'10.75").
Jaden Christian (Braidwood, Ill./Braidwood (Reed-Custer)) was third with a leap of 5.53 meters (18'1.75"),
Jena Martin (Smithville, Mo./Smithville) came in fourth at 5.40 meters (17'8.75"), Van Den Elzen took fifth with a leap of 5.33 meters (17'6") and
Tori Hagg (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah Community HS) was sixth at 5.33 meters (17'6").
Christian, Hagg and Martin were second, fifth and seventh in the triple jump. Christian's best jump was 11.63 meters (38'2") while Hagg's best was 10.84 meters (35'6.75") and Martin's was 10.50 meters (34'5.5").
Ratkoslava Karac (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield) and
Kylie Wymer (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) were second and third in the shot put. Karac had a heave of 13.28 meters (43'7") while Wymer's was 13.05 meters (42'9.75"). Karac won the discus with a throw of 43.68 meters (143'4") while Wymer took sixth at 36.79 meters (120'8"). Wymer took fourth and Karac placed fifth in the hammer throw. Wymer had a heave of 43.55 meters (142'10") while Karac's best toss was 42.28 meters (138'8").
Poppen and
Jozlyn Garcia (Sterling, Ill./Sterling HS) took second and fifth respectively in the javelin. Poppen's best toss was 40.57 meters (133'1") while Garcia's best was 35.28 meters (115'9").
Lewis returns to the track next weekend as they take part in the prestigious Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, beginning next Wednesday (April 27).
