ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced that the Lewis men's basketball team had four players named to the NABC Honors Court and the team was awarded the NABC Team Excellence Award. The Team Academic Excellence Award honors men's basketball programs that completed the 2022-23 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. Lewis is one of seven Great Lakes Valley Conference squads to earn the Team Excellence Award.
In order to earn a NABC Team Excellence Award, institutions in NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA Division I and II must count the grade point average of all men's student-athletes who competed during the 2022-23 season. The award recognizes outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better for the 2022-23 season. Lewis checked in with a 3.24 cumulative GPA.
