Bourbonais, Ill. – Building off early season momentum, the Lewis University men's and women's swim teams turned in another commanding performance as both programs earned decisive wins over Olivet Nazarene University.
The women won by a final score of 138-123 while the men earned their first road win with a 169-91 decision.
HOW IT HAPPENED
On the men's side, the Flyers opened the meet with a statement in the 200-yard medley relay, as the A-team posted a winning time of 1:34.13. Later, they closed strong in the 400-yard freestyle relay, touching the wall first at 3:10.41 to cap off a relay sweep.
Juan Castro was a standout in the distance events as he claimed victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:37.64.
Eren Yarar (Adana, Turkey/TED Mersin College) snagged a first place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.93) and placing just behind Castro in the 1,000 with a 9:45.76.
Andres Bodington (Caracas, Venezuela/Mars Hill) gave the Flyers a boost in the individual medle as he won the 400-yard IM in 4:17.47.
In the sprints,
Davidson Vincent (Thomonde, Haiti/Westlake Preparatory School) took home a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (21.65) and the 100-yard butterfly (50.57). Otavio De Moraes Cunha added a win of his own in the 100-yard freestyle (47.67). Both Vincent and Cunha contributed key legs in the winning relay teams as well.
On the women's side, the Flyers opened their side of the meet by winning the 200-yard medley relay in 1:52.65, just over a half second ahead of Olivet Nazarene. They later took the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:41.77, closing the meet on a high note.
Luna Cueva Schafer continued her strong start to the season, winning both the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.17) and the 50-yard freestyle (25.14). She also played a key role on both winning relay teams as well.
Dominique Dingshoff (Hoogeveen, Netherlands/Roelof Van Echten College) led the way in the women's 400-yard individual medley, finishing first in 4:44.27, and added points with a strong second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.86).
Morgan Vis (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) swan to a second place in the 100-yard free with a 56.57.

The Flyers will head downtown to race against UChicago on Oct. 24 at 6 p.m.
