Box Score TIFFIN, Ohio -- The No. 6 seed Lewis University softball team and third seeded Hillsdale had their game suspended at 2-2 in the top of the 11
th inning during the first round of the NCAA Division II Tournament-Midwest Region Thursday (May 8).

SUMMARY
Lewis struck first with a run in the opening inning after
Kristen Graham (Mapleton, IL/Illini Bluffs High School) executed a suicide squeeze bunt, scoring
Delaney Garden (Carpentersville, IL/Harry D. Jacobs High School). Hillsdale responded with two runs in the bottom of the second inning, taking a 2-1 lead.
Both teams were scoreless in the third, fourth and fifth innings, keeping the score 2-1 in favor of the Chargers. The Flyers tied it at 2-2 in the top of the sixth inning after
Erica Hoffman (Hebron, IN/Boone Grove High School) hit an RBI single through the left side of the field, scoring
Anna Frafjord (Sussex, WI/Hamilton High School) from second.
Neither team scored in the seventh through 12th innings, maintaining the score at 2-2. Lewis rallied to take the lead in the top of the 13th after Hoffman walked, stole second then advanced to third on a groundout and came home on a suicide squeeze bunt by
Grace Kmak (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central High School).
Garden recorded the three outs needed in the bottom half of the inning to secure the victory.
Garden (19-9) recorded the win, after throwing all 13 innings, allowed two runs, gave up nine hits, walking two and striking out nine.
UP NEXT
Lewis proceeds to the winner's bracket and will take on Indianapolis starting at 11:30 a.m. CT. If the Flyers win that contest, they proceed to the Midwest Region Bracket 2 Championship Saturday, May 10.
