NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Lewis University women's cross country team claimed the small school championship at the National Catholic Invite on Friday (Sept. 19), finishing first among non-Division I programs and second overall.
In the process, the Flyers made history by defeating Loyola for the first time ever, posting a team score of 69 points.
Junior
Mary Edwards (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) led the way with a 15th-place finish, clocking 17:51. Senior
Josephine Bober (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) followed in 19th at 18:10, while fellow senior
Kate Guderjan (Frankfort, Ill./Lincolnway East) placed 21st in 18:16. Senior
Madilyn Calloway (Rochester, Ind./Rochester Community) added a 23rd-place finish in 18:22, and junior
Katie Melzer (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) rounded out the Flyers' scoring in 28th at 18:41.
