Indianapolis, Ind. - The Lewis University men's and women's track and field programs swept the Great Lakes Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week awards as
Abraham Christian (Huntley, Ill./Huntley HS) was tabbed the male field athlete of the week while
Denise Hernandez (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North HS) was named the leagues female field athlete of the week.
It is the second weekly award this season for Christian and the fourth for Hernandez.
Christian bested his own personal record in the high jump this past weekend, winning the Chicagoland Championships on Saturday. His leap of 2.13m continues to lead the GLVC and is 12th in the NCAA.
As for Hernandez, who has now won three consecutive GLVC Female Field Athlete of the Week awards, she won the long jump at the Chicagoland Championships this past Friday. Her leap of 6.09m was good for another NCAA mark and continues to lead the GLVC.
The Flyers have one final meet before GLVC's as they compete in the Lee Slick Invite this weekend.
