Romeoville, Ill. - After helping the Flyers to a 2-0 weekend,
Nico Paula (Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Preparatory School) was named the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning.
It is the third MIVA honor this season for the Flyers and first for Paula during the 2026 campaign.
In two matches at Queens, the Tampa, Fla., native totaled 22 digs and three assists over eight sets of action. On Feb. 20 against the Royals, Paula tallied 14 digs, with 11 coming in the first set, and two assists en route to the Flyers 3-0 win. Two days later, the senior libero notched eight digs and an assist in the Flyers 3-2 victory to complete the weekend sweep.
Lewis hosts Ohio State University on Thursday, Feb. 26, for its Black Out/Fly As One match at Neil Carey Arena in Romeoville, Ill. First serve is set for 7:00 PM.
