Indianapolis, Ind. - For the first time this season, the Lewis University women's lacrosse team swept the Great Lakes Valley Conference Weekly Awards as
Daniella Winterlik (Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada/Terry Fox) was named the leagues offensive player of the week while
Sophia Fountain (Berkeley, Ill./Montini Catholic High School) took home defensive player of the week accolades.
Winterlik and Fountain join Sarah Bradley as the only three players in program history to win a GLVC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Award since the Flyers joined the conference.
In two games, Winterlik had 12 total points with six assists, six goals, six ground balls and six draw controls. She had a season-high eight points, season-high five goals, three assists, three ground balls and five draw controls in the Flyers win over Lee. The senior also had one goal, three assists, three ground balls, two caused turnovers and a draw controls in the Flyers win over Tusculum.
On the defensive side of the ball, Fountain made 19 saves across two games while also snagging five ground balls. The freshman goalie made 10 saves and collected three ground balls in the Flyers win over Lee to start the week. She followed that with nine saves and two ground balls in the red and whites win at Tusculum. Fountain is also the first player in program history to be named the leagues defensive player of the week as well.
Lewis will close its road stand with a 2 p.m. tilt against Findlay on March 25
