2013 Highlights: Ran in six races...won the 4-mile Bradley Intercollegiate (Sept. 6) with a time of 19:51, helping the Flyers win the overall title...named the GLVC Cross Country Runner of the Week for the period ending September 8th, following his win at Bradley...earned All-GLVC honors for the second-straight season with a 13th-place finish of 25:09 at the 8K GLVC Championships (Oct. 26) to push the Flyers to a runner-up finish as a team...picked up USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors...finished fifth at the 8K Illinois Intercollegiate (Sept. 13) with a time of 25:05.3 as Lewis finished second overall as a team...crossed finish line of 8K Lucian Rosa Invitational (Oct. 12) with a sixth-place showing of 25:20.3...was Lewis' No. 2 runner at the 10K NCAA Midwest Regional Championships (Nov. 9) with a time of 32:36...recipient of the Br. David Delahanty Award - given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence - and named to Academic All-GLVC Team.

2012 Highlights: Competed in five events during the 2012 season...beating his career high time in multiple events...the 6k at the 2012 Illini Challenge (Aug. 31) with a time of 18:45, in the 8k at the Greater Louisville Classic Gold (Sept. 29) with a time of 24:50.10, and in the 10k at the Midwest Regional Championship (Nov. 31) with a time of 31:41.

Prior To Lewis: Spent three seasons at the University of St. Francis (Ill.)...won the CCAC Cross Country Championship in 2010...won the 5,000-meter run at the CCAC Track and Field Championships in 2012...named a 2012 NAIA All-American in both the outdoor 5,000-meter run and as a member of the indoor 4x800 relay...helped the Saints to the 2010 CCAC Cross Country Team Championship and a 14th-place showing at the NAIA National Championships in 2010...was a member of St. Francis track and field team that earned three second-place finishes at the CCAC Championships.

Prep/Personal: Three-year varsity cross country and track and field letterwinner for Winnebago...won the IHSA Class A Cross Country State Championship and 3,200-meter run, while claiming All-State accolades in the 1,600-meter run as a senior...placed eighth overall in the IHSA Class A Cross Country State Championship as a junior...helped Winnebago to four top-four team finishes at the IHSA Class A Cross Country Championships, including state titles as a freshman and junior...son of John and Sharon Smith...Mathematics major.
