Lewis Men’s Swimming Stuns Valparaiso, 155-107

Valparaiso, Ind. – The Lewis University men's swimming team picked up a decisive, 155-107, victory at Division I Valparaiso University on Saturday (Nov. 9) at the ARC.
 
The Flyers move to 3-1 in dual meet action this season.
 
"This is a great win for the Flyers," Lewis head men's swimming coach Roger Karns said. "This meet will help prepare for the next few meets as we get set to take on more Division I programs."
 
The Flyers kicked off the meet with a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (1:38.22) swam by freshmen Johnny Lynk (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) and Victor Tarin (Godelleta, Valencia, Spain/IES Conselleria), sophomore Zach Ballon (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) and junior Brett Busch (East Moline, Ill./United Township).
 
In their individual races, Tarin won the 1000-yard freestyle (10:01.08) and 100-yard butterfly (51.64) while Ballon picked up wins the 100-yard breaststroke (59.28) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:08.51).
 
Senior Derick Carlson (Norridge, Ill./St. Patrick) won the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.64), 100-yard freestyle (49.28) and 500-yard freestyle (4:48.83).
 
Junior Tyson Polack (Canby, Ore./Canby) finished first in the 200-yard backstroke (1:59.02) and the 200-yard Individual Medley (2:00.25).
 
Lewis returns to the pool on Saturday (Nov. 16) when they take on Lake Forest College at 1 PM in Lake Forest, Ill.
