Kenosha, Wis. – The Lewis University men's swimming team had three Flyers pick up three individual wins as the squad defeated Carthage College 172-90 on Saturday (Jan. 11) at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center.
The Flyers improve to 7-3 in dual meet action while the Red move to 1-3 on the year.
Lewis junior
Tyson Polack (Canby, Ore./Canby) and freshmen
Aidan Brennan (Naples, Fla. /Barron Collier) and
Victor Tarin (Godelleta, Valencia, Spain/IES Conselleria) all won three individual races for the Flyers.
Polack was first in the 100-yard backstroke (55.39), the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.48) and the 200-yard Individual medley (2:00.81).
Brennan won back-to-back races in the 50-yard freestyle (21.66) and the 100-yard freestyle (46.76) as well as the 500-yard freestyle (4:42.24).
Tarin collected victories in the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.82), the 200-yard butterfly (2:02.31) and the 100-yard butterfly (51.92).
"The squad looked much stronger and more in control than our last outing against Florida Tech," Lewis head men's swimming coach
Roger Karns said. "While this is a sport where success is determined by times, our position in the training cycle doesn't really allow for season-best swims.
"Today, with the emphasis on racing, I felt the squad concentrated on fundamentals and executed them well."

Zach Ballon (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) tallied victories in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.16) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:10.49) while senior
Derick Carlson (Norridge, Ill./St. Patrick) won the 1000-yard freestyle (9:53.88).

Johnny Lynk (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point), Ballon, Tarin and Brennan won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:37.61. The 400-yard freestyle relay quartet of junior

Alex Elston (Algonquin, Ill./Algonquin), freshman
Bryant Jacobs (Pacifica, Calif./Terra Nova) and Carlson won with a time of 3:15.22.
Lewis is back in action on Saturday (Jan. 18) when they take on Olivet Nazarene at 1 PM at the ONU Student Life and Recreation Center in Bourbonnais, Ill.
