ResultsKENOSHA, Wis. – Lewis men's golf turned in a 24-stroke victory at the UW-Parkside Fall Invitational on Tuesday (Sept. 16) during the final round of the event.
The Flyers finished with a 293 on Tuesday following Monday's 283 for a two-round even par total of 576. Second place Bellarmine carded a 600.
The individual leaderboard reflected Lewis' dominance with four Flyers in the top five of the event. Junior
Alex Thode (Washington, Iowa/Washington) improved by three strokes on Tuesday for medalist honors. He totaled a five-under 139 (71-68). Teammate junior
Robert Dofflemyer III (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) finished second overall with a score of 142 (68-74). Senior
Ryan Frederick (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) shot a 147 (69-78), good for fourth. Senior
Jeremy Fraser (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way North) tied for fifth after a second 75 on Tuesday for a 150 total. Freshman
Eric Raube (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac Township) rounded out the Lewis squad with a 30
th place finish of 160 (84-76).
Lewis entered three individuals in the event. Senior
Anthony Lodovico (Homer Glen, Ill. /Lockport Township) fired a 156 with two 78's, tying for 21
st. Freshman
Austin Buente (Troy, Ill./Triad) shot a 164 (84-80). Freshman
Trent Smith (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac Township) carded a 166 (84-82).
"It was a great tournament for the men," Lewis head coach
Skip Steffey said. "Alex gets a collegiate win, which is fantastic because he's been playing great. For the five rounds of tournament play this year, he's just played phenomenally well and has been a great cornerstone for our team. Alex, Robert and Ryan have played terrific golf in the first two tournaments this year. We're real happy with team's progress and looking forward to trying to step into the upper echelon of the region."
Lewis returns to the course on Sept. 29-30 at the Midwest Regional #1 at Harborside International Golf Center.
