Day One GLVC Sports Network RecapCARMEL, Ind. – Lewis men's golf is in first place following the first day of the 2015 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship on Sunday (April 19).
All teams completed one round on Sunday. However rainy weather including a 90-minute delay caused all teams to halt play in round two before it was complete.
The Flyers shot a 289 in round one, four strokes better than UIS' 293. The Flyers' 289 is their third best round of the season.
Three Flyers turned in top five rounds. Senior
Ryan Frederick (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) and junior
Alex Thode (Washington, Iowa/Washington) each shot a 71, tying for third. Senior
Jeremy Fraser (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way North) tied for fifth with a 72. Junior
Robert Dofflemyer III (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) shot a 75, tying for 15
th. Freshman
Austin Buente (Troy, Ill./Triad) recorded a 77, tying for 29
th.
In round two, Thode is -2 through 12 holes. Frederick is at even par through 11. Dofflemyer is +3 after hole 12. Buente is through 13 holes at +3. Fraser is at +8 following hole 12.
Play will resume Monday at 9 a.m. ET with the completion of round two with round three to follow. The top four teams at the conclusion of round three will advance to match play on Tuesday for the GLVC Championship.
The event is being held at Prairie View Golf Club. Par 72, 6983 yards. The field consists of 14 teams and 70 players.
