Geoff Powell (Claremont, Calif./Claremont) picked up the award in 2012.
FOUR YEARS, FOUR AWARDS – Senior
Bobby Walsh (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel) was named to his second consecutive All-MIVA First Team this year. He was an All-MIVA Second Team selection his first two years.
"PER" OF AWARDS –
Mitch Perinar (Channahon, Ill./Minooka) earned another freshman accolade this week when he was named to the Off The Block/Springbak, Inc. Freshmen All-American Team.
TOP 10 - As a team, Lewis is ranked No. 7 in the nation in blocks per set (2.47) and No. 8 in hitting percentage (.307).
GREAT WALL OF WALSH -
Bobby Walsh (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel) owns 547 career blocks. He is the second Flyer in program history to reach 500 blocks. Victor Rivera is Lewis' all-time leader with 567 blocks from 1996-99. Walsh's total makes him the rally scoring era blocking champion (2001 to present). Also worth noting, Rivera recorded his 567 blocks over 452 sets. Walsh has played 421 sets.
PUTTING ON THE HITS -
Bobby Walsh (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel)'s .470 attack percentage ranks third in the nation.
ROUND NUMBERS - Lewis head coach
Dan Friend captured his 300th career men's volleyball victory earlier year when the Flyers defeated Lindenwood on March 19. He picked up his 100th career MIVA win in Lewis' 3-0 win over Ball State on April 8.
TOURNAMENT TIME – The Flyers are 13-7 under
Dan Friend in MIVA Tournament contests.
YOU AGAIN? – Wednesday's contest will be the fourth straight year Lewis and Loyola meet in the MIVA Tournament. The Ramblers have defeated the Flyers in the last three MIVA Championship contests.
CAN WE JUST START IN SET FOUR? - When including Loyola's 3-2 wins over Lewis earlier this season, the Flyers and Ramblers haven't played a three-set match since April 25, 2012. That contest was a win in Romeoville for the Flyers in the MIVA Tournament. Since then, 12 consecutive matches have gone at least four sets.
A WIN AND... - The winner of Wednesday's contest will play the winner of No. 6 seed McKendree and No. 1 seed Ohio State. The higher seed will host the MIVA Championship match set for Saturday, April 23.
