BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – Lewis University's men's and women's track and field teams recorded 19 top 10 finishes at the Olivet Nazarene Holiday Invite in Bourbonnais, Ill., on Saturday (Dec. 4). The Flyer women recorded 10 top eight finishes and the men had nine top eight finishes including
Zach Olenek (Algonquin, Ill./St. Edward Central Catholic) who earned a provisional qualifying mark in the long jump.
On the women's side,
Katelyn Gall (Channahon, Ill./Minooka) and
Jaden Christian (Braidwood, Ill./Braidwood (Reed-Custer)) each recorded event wins as Gall was tied for first in the pole vault clearing the bar at 2.97 meters (9'9") while Christian was the winner in the long jump with a jump of 5.54 meters (18'2.25"). Christian was third in the triple jump at 11.51 meters (37'9.25").
Natasha Bernett (McAlpin, Ill./Lane Tech) finished second in the triple jump and was fourth in the long jump with leaps of 11.52 meters (37'9.5") and 5.19 meters (17'0.5") respectively.
Jena Martin (Smithville, Mo./Smithville) was second in the long jump with a jump of 5.36 meters (17'7").
Kylie Wymer (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) recorded a pair of second place finishes in the shot put at 13.42 meters (44'0.5") and in the weight throw with a heave of 15.68 meters (51'5.5").
Ratkoslava Karac (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield) finished third in the shot put with a toss of 13.21 meters (43'4.25") and
Taylor Renkes (Dixon, Ill./Dixon) finished eighth in the mile with a time of 5:49.76.
On the men's side,
Keegan Zack (Watseka, Ill./Watseka Community) won the triple jump with a leap of 14.05 meters (46'1.25") and was second in the long jump at 6.83 meters (22'5"). Olenek won the long jump with a mark of 7.14 meters (23'5.25").
Will DeBolt (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) was the runner-up in the triple jump with a jump of 13.29 meters (43'7.25").
Gyassi Boisson recorded two top 10 finishes in the shot put and weight throw. His mark of 14.31 meters (46'11.5") was good for second in the shot while his heave of 12.94 meters (42.5'5) was good for fifth in the weight throw.
Zyaire Shermon (/) also had two top eight finishes in the shot put and weight throw. His mark of 12.19 meters (40'0") was second for fifth in the shot while his heave of 12.67 meters (41'7") was seventh in the weight throw.
Wyatt Wolfersberger (Saint Joseph, Ill./St. Joe Ogden) posted a seventh place finish in the mile with a time of 4:57.11.
The Flyers return to the track next weekend taking part in the two-day St. Ambrose Multi next Friday and Saturday in Davenport, Iowa.
