Abby Gustafson (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) was named to the College Sports Information of Directors (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Division II Women's Soccer Third Team on Thursday (Dec. 9), as selected by CoSIDA. She becomes the second player in program history to be named an Academic All-America joining Mackenzie Fuller (2016 and 2017) and is the 56th player in school history to earn the honor.
Gustatson, a double major in business administration and political science, has a 4.00 cumulative grade point average. She was a First Team All-GLVC selection this season and was named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-Midwest Region Second Team.
Gustafson played every minute on defense this season helping the Flyers post seven shutouts, allowing only one goal three times and conceded just 1.00 goals per contest.
Lewis finished its season with a record of 9-6-2, 7-5-2 GLVC and advanced to the GLVC Tournament for the third time in four years.
CoSIDA began the distinguished All-America program in 1952, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with these elite Academic All-America scholar-athlete honors.
Currently, CoSIDA sponsors Academic All-America programs for men's soccer, women's soccer, football, women's volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball and men's and women's track and field/cross country. Many other sports are eligible through the At-Large program.
